40 Days

One of the things that I have always wanted to do was to go to foreign countries. Living in the US, our history is good but it only dates back to a short time ago. I have been lucky to have traveled to over 40 states throughout our country and have had the opportunity to enjoy our history. And yes, there are places that I would like to go and cities that I would like to see still yet here in the US, but for me just the idea of traveling to countries that have history that spans the time of early civilization is an amazing concept. I have seen the world through pictures, read about others amazing journeys, amazing places, and the amazing history of other countries but I have not been able to experience it in person. Limitations of many kinds have kept me from perusing my dreams of being able to capture life in pictures from places that I can only dream about. But, I have finally been given the privileged (and yes, I feel like it is a privileged) to make those dreams come true.

In 40 days, I will be setting out for an adventure of a lifetime. My husband and I will be traveling on a (almost) month long adventure through five different countries and exploring the world in a nomadic way. Granted, as our first world wide trek we are going in the safety and comfort of a planned adventure but nonetheless, it will be an exotic journey for us first-timers. This opportunity arose unexpectedly although we had been hoping and planning for it at some time in the future. When we booked our first reservation the thrill was exhilarating, however I did not know how expansive the preparations would become. The minuet details and the things that you would never have thought about, it can become overwhelming if you are not prepared. Luckily for us, we are planners. We started booking our trip in early to mid January and decided to go ahead and get everything prepped and done well in advance. To our surprise, it is mid February and we are not even close to having everything in order. So, for those of you who are planning an epic trip to far away places - start preparing early!

My hope is to spend as much time as possible shooting all of the great and exotic places that we visit. Of course I do understand that this trip is a pleasure trip and not a photography trip, but how can you not grab the camera and start shooting when you are in places that you would never have dreamed that you would ever go. My goal is to shoot some great pictures and post them here for everyone to see. If you are curious as to where we are going - you will just have to check back as I will reveal the locations soon.
